The Prinses Juliana of Martinair was a Douglas DC 9 McDonnell Douglas MD 82. It was delivered to Martinair in 1983 with registration PH MBZ. Jet aircraft were almost exclusively used on long distance routes. On shorter hauls mainly aircraft with piston engines and turboprops were used. That changed with the introduction of the American Douglas DC 9 as well as the British
